Overview
THE SITE VISITOR APIs, while still functional, ARE BEING DEPRECATED. Support for the Site Visitor APIs will be withdrawn by the end of 2009. The functionality of the SITE VISITOR APIs has been subsumed by the REST APIs available on this site. The REST APIs provide more functionality than the Site Visitor API, and are the preferred platform for future development.
The Site Visitor API was designed to help Constant Contact Customers create a tailored contact list registration process for their contact. The API consists of two verbs. The first verb (API_AddSiteVisitor) adds or updates a single contact to an existing Constant Contact Account.
The second verb (API_UnsubscribeSiteVisitor) permanently removes a contact from an existing Constant Contact customer account.
This API is expressly limited in two ways:
- The API is not to be used for bulk operations (See the 'Activities' resource described
here for bulk operations of any size).
- The API is designed to be used with the direct permission of the contact. A call to API_AddSiteVisitor should be based on an explicit opt-in from the contact. Contacts who are added via the API_AddSiteVisitor API do not receive a "Welcome email".
Support and Questions on the SiteVisitor API
Documentation for the SiteVisitor API is no longer distributed.
See the
SiteVisitor API Frequently Asked Questions for a handy set of FAQs which capture the experiences of hundreds of our customers' API implementations.
If you have questions, comments or improvements on these examples, please use the
discussion forums as that is the sole support mechanism for these code snippets.
